Overview

The CEPIA Vocational Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Electrophysiology [30733QLD] is specifically tailored for allied professionals, EP registrars and fellows practicing in cardiac electrophysiology. It is designed to teach all there is to know about cardiac electrophysiology, from basic anatomy to advanced 2D and 3D mapping techniques, with an emphasis on the analysis of intracardiac recordings. Theoretical and practical skills will be taught, endowing participants with the ability to perform any diagnostic or invasive electrophysiologic procedure, from syncope studies to atrial fibrillation ablation procedures.

The course will consist of students attending 3 x three day modules, with each module consisting of lectures, hands-on sessions, tutorials and case studies covering the entire clinical and technical scope of cardiac electrophysiology.  Each module will be assessed by both online exams and a practical take home workbook, so is aimed directly at those who are actively involved in EP procedures.

Prerequisites

Potential students must possess an appropriate degree or a demonstrated equivalence to an appropriate degree.

  • comprehensive technical and clinical knowledge of cardiac electrophysiology
  • thorough understanding of the role of electrophysiology testing in managing patients with bradyarrhythmias and tachyarrhythmias
  • improved ability to recognise and differentiate bradyarrhythmias and tachyarrhythmias
  • enhanced knowledge of the demographics, aetiology, features, diagnosis, progression, prognosis and electrophysiological characteristics of bradyarrhythmias and tachyarrhythmias
  • comprehensive knowledge of the indications, risks and treatment methods of bradyarrhythmias and tachyarrhythmias
  • detailed understanding of the principles, methods and biophysics of radiofrequency and cryoablation
  • advanced knowledge of the mechanisms of both supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias,
  • electrophysiological diagnostic manoeuvres, ablative and mapping techniques
  • increased comprehension of the endpoints, success and recurrence rates of pharmacologic and ablative treatment methods.
